Experience the joy of sailing
in the mountains of West Virginia
Giving Back
The Mountain Mama Hospice Regatta is our signature event, a come-one-come-all regatta that celebrates and directly benefits Hospice of Southern West Virginia.
Creating Community
The people you meet sailing are anything but dull. If all this weren't a lot of fun, we wouldn't be doing it. And if we didn't like each other, we wouldn't be sailing together.
Basics of Sailing
The association traces its beginnings to Bob and Sandy Richards and to Corliss Pond, a small man-made pond designed by Bob to safely teach young people the essentials of sailing.
Bob still teaches sailing there, and dozens of new sailors each summer have Bob and friends to thank for introducing them to the joys and challenges of inland sailing.
Play it safe. Plan ahead!
Before traveling to Summersville Lake, especially in spring and autumn, we recommend checking the water level. This lake is managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, who control access and recreational use of the lake. The Corps also kindly monitors the water level and provides this online reference (the link opens in a new window). Below is a quick reference to current weather at the lake.
